Geoffrey took up painting as a primary occupation after retiring aged 60 in 1984 from a deeply absorbing Civil Service career in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, research and development.  Largely self-taught he paints predominantly with watercolour media and in a 'traditional" manner.

He enjoys a wide range of subject - landscape, townscape, marine, aviation or anything else which is colourful and attracts his interest.  He has exhibited frequently in the past with the Wessex Artists in Romsey and Salisbury  and

in galleries in Hampshire, Kent and Surrey; occasionally also in the Mall and Westminster Galleries in London. In 1999 he won 2nd prize in a nation-wide competition run by Leisure Painter in conjunction with Daler-Rowney.

More recently he has developed an increasing interest in aviation painting with the Guild of Aviation Artists and in 2004 won the Guild's Frank Wooton Award for the best painting submitted by a Friend of the Guild to its Annual Exhibition that year.  Subsequently he has been elected an Associate Member of the Guild.  As age creeps up he confesses to becoming less active - but to lose himself in a new painting still remains a major source of contentment!
