I joined Fleet Art Society in 2000,
shortly after moving to Church Crookham. I have been an
Exhibiting Member of
Farnham
Art Society since 2002 and have had work shown at the
Vivartis Exhibition at King Edward’s School in Witley, Surrey.
I paint with mixed media, including acrylic, watercolour and
collage, usually landscapes inspired by places I have visited on
holiday and while out walking. I am particularly attracted to
river and coastal scenes. Over the past few years, I have been
subtly incorporating text, such as newspaper cuttings, into some
of my paintings. This is put across an additional message
beneath the scene, usually relating to an environmental issue,
such as the potential changes and threats to the landscape posed
by climate change.
Born in 1967, I trained as a
scientist, with a Biochemistry degree from the University of
Southampton and subsequent keen interest in Earth and
Environmental Sciences. I am largely a self-taught artist but
have benefited greatly from the workshops and critiques run by
local art societies.
